ICOC Funeral & Burial Services

The Islamic Center of Ocean County (ICOC) is committed to assisting our community during the difficult time following the loss of a loved one. ICOC will help guide families through the necessary funeral, Janazah, cemetery, and burial arrangements in accordance with Islamic teachings.

Funeral assistance, available 24/7

In the event of a death, please contact ICOC as soon as possible:

Br. Nasser will assist the family with coordinating the funeral service, Janazah prayer, cemetery arrangements, and burial.

Funeral service provider

ICOC works with PAAK Funeral Home to provide Islamic funeral services for our community. PAAK Funeral Home specializes in Muslim funeral services and assists families with transportation, preparation of the deceased, and other necessary funeral arrangements in accordance with Islamic practices.

Families are encouraged to contact Br. Nasser first so ICOC can assist with coordinating the funeral and burial arrangements.

ICOC cemetery lots

ICOC-designated cemetery lots are located within:

If you already own an ICOC cemetery plot

If you or your family already own an ICOC cemetery plot in Row DD or Row EE, please contact Br. Nasser. ICOC will coordinate with the cemetery and provide the necessary authorization for the grave to be opened for burial.

If you do not own an ICOC cemetery plot

If you do not already own a cemetery plot through ICOC, ICOC will guide you through the process of locating and purchasing a cemetery plot. Please understand that purchasing a cemetery plot on short notice can sometimes be a difficult process. Families should contact ICOC as soon as possible so we can provide guidance and assistance.

Important: ICOC currently does not have any cemetery plots available for sale.

Funeral & burial costs

The family is responsible for the applicable funeral, cemetery, and burial expenses. The current estimated costs are:

1. 1. Grave opening and closingAbout $1,400

   The family is responsible for the cost of opening and closing the grave. This payment is made directly to the cemetery/grave-opening personnel. Please confirm the required method of payment when arrangements are made.

2. 2. Funeral servicesAbout $4,200

   If the deceased qualifies for Medicaid or another applicable assistance program, some or all of the funeral-service cost may be covered. Eligibility and coverage must be confirmed with the funeral service provider.

3. 3. Purchasing a cemetery plotAbout $2,000 or more

   If the family does not already own an ICOC cemetery plot, an additional cost of approximately $2,000 or more may be required to purchase a cemetery plot. The actual cost will depend on the cemetery and availability.

4. 4. ICOC cemetery plot availability

   ICOC currently has no cemetery plots available for sale.

Please note that all prices listed above are approximate and are subject to change. Final costs and payment requirements are determined by the cemetery, funeral home, and other service providers.

Important steps following a death

When a loved one passes away, please contact Br. Nasser at (908) 910-8948 as soon as possible.

ICOC will help guide the family through the necessary steps, including contacting the funeral home, confirming cemetery arrangements, coordinating the Janazah prayer, and arranging the burial.
